J.League releases 2016 schedule

The J.League on Thursday released its fixture schedule for the 2016 MEIJI YASUDA J1 League season.

The First Stage’s third round will feature an emotional encounter between Vegalta Sendai and Kashima Antlers, which will be played just one day after the fifth anniversary of the March 11 Earthquake.

Meanwhile, fans can look forward to the return of the Saitama Derby, which will see Omiya Ardija host Urawa Reds on May 8.

Just one week later, FC Tokyo will face former manager Massimo Ficcadenti for the first time as the Italian tactician brings Sagan Tosu to Ajinomoto Stadium.

The First Stage will conclude on June 25, with defending champions Sanfrecce Hiroshima playing away at Ventforet Kofu and 2015 Emperor’s Cup champions Gamba Osaka hosting Nagoya Grampus.
