J.League pair called up for South Korea’s Rio 2016 squad

Two MEIJI YASUDA J2 League players have been named in South Korea’s squad for the men’s football tournament at the upcoming 2016 Rio Olympics.

Consadole Sapporo goalkeeper Gu Sung-yun and Mito Hollyhock defender Song Ju-hun will join the team that will face Fiji, Mexico and Germany in Group C.

“Thank you for your support. I want to work hard at the Olympics,” said Song, who is on loan to the Ibaraki side from Albirex Niigata.

Gu has made 15 appearances in Consadole’s rise to the top of the second-tier this season, while Song has started in all but three J2 League games.
