The J.League’s J30 celebration, which highlights the amazing first 30 years of Japan’s domestic league, has named the top three moments in league history.
Leading the way is Kaoru Mitoma’s amazing run to set up a goal for Kawasaki Frontale.
Mitoma is now lighting up the English Premier League, but before that, he was a university graduate who joined Frontale and helped them to a league and Emperor’s Cup double with wondrous play.
The No. 2 J30 greatest moment belongs to Andrés Iniesta and his first goal for Vissel Kobe.
The touch, turn and finish by Don Andrés was a work of art and was a statement by the global sporting icon upon arriving in the J.League that he still had all the magic in Kobe.
The third greatest moment belongs to Michael Olunga and his mesmerizing eight goal game for Kashiwa Reysol.
The Kenya international’s incredible game was part of a 27-goal campaign in J2 that helped Reysol earn promotion to the top flight. The next season, Olunga scored 28 goals to win J1 Top Scorer and MVP, establishing himself firmly as one of the J.League’s best ever players.
