South Korea’s Jeonbuk Motors captured the 2016 AFC Champions League on Saturday night following a 3-2 aggregate win over UAE’s Al Ain.
Following a 2-1 win in the opening leg at Jeonju World Cup Stadium, the K-League side took the lead in the second match at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium after 30 minutes, allowing an equaliser soon after before holding on for a 1-1 draw.
The match featured several former J.League players, including Al Ain’s Caio and Douglas as well as Jeonbuk’s Kim Bo-kyung and Edu.
The result means that Jeonbuk will represent the AFC at the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2016 presented by Alibaba E-Auto, which is set to take place next month in Yokohama and Osaka.
