Jay Bothroyd takes J2 MVP prize for October

Jubilo Iwata striker Jay Bothroyd has been named the MEIJI YASUDA J2 League Coca Cola Most Valuable Player for October after another fantastic month for the Shizuoka side.

The once-capped England international has continued to lead the second division’s scoring chart since August, when he was first awarded the MVP honour.

Bothroyd’s three goals and two assists in his five appearances in October helped Jubilo extend their unbeaten streak to 10 matches.

The rebuilding Japanese giants are hot on the tail of second-tier leaders Omiya Ardija in their bid to secure promotion back to the top flight.
