Japanese mobile providers docomo to offer discounted DAZN service

J.League official broadcast partners DAZN on Wednesday announced “DAZN for docomo,” al-lowing docomo users within Japan to enjoy the streaming service at a heavy discount.

DAZN content, which normally costs 1,750 yen per month, will cost just 980 yen per month for do-como customers, who can also subscribe to streaming entertainment service dTV at a discounted rate of 300 yen per month.

“In addition to popular sports such as football and baseball, DAZN gives fans a chance to watch sports they’ve previously not been able to,” NTT chairman Kazuhiro Yoshizawa said at a press con-ference announcing the partnership.

“We want to increase the quality and popularity of sports in Japan,” added James Rushton, CEO of DAZN.

The new service is scheduled to launch on February 15, with expanded DAZN support for video game consoles, Chromecast, and Apple TV also set to come later this month.
