Grampus striker Novakovic selected for Slovenia squad

Nagoya Grampus on Thursday announced that striker Milivoje Novakovic has been selected for Slovenia’s national team ahead of their Euro 2016 qualifiers in September.

Novakovic, who has netted three times in 22 appearances for Grampus this season, most recently scored the first goal in Slovenia’s 3-2 loss to England in June.

The 36-year-old has netted found the back of the net 30 times in 69 appearances for his country, and will be looking to close in further on Zlatko Zahovic’s record of 35 strikes.

FIFA’s 46th-ranked nation, currently third in Group E, will travel to Switzerland on September 5, before hosting Estonia on September 8.
