Grampus striker Novakovic named to Slovenia national team

Nagoya Grampus striker Milivoje Novakovic has been called up to Slovenia’s national team for their upcoming Euro 2016 qualifier, the club announced on Wednesday.

The 36-year-old is scheduled to depart Japan next Monday ahead of the 14th June match against England at Stadion Stozice in his home city of Ljubljana.

Novakovic, who has scored 29 goals in 66 senior caps for his country, joined Grampus in January after spells with Omiya Ardija and Shimizu S-Pulse.

The former Koln striker has netted one goal in 12 MEIJI YASUDA J1 League appearances this term, and will look to add to that tally against Albirex Niigata on Sunday.
