Urawa Reds were denied a thrilling win against Gamba Osaka at the death, as Hiroto Goya’s equaliser in the second minute of stoppage time secured a 3-3 MEIJI YASUDA J1 League draw.
The big clash on Sunday lived up to its billing as the Reds went into the lead thrice, only to be pegged back by Kenta Hasegawa’s men.
Rafael Silva fired the hosts in front with his brace at the start, only to see his goals cancelled out by Hwang Ui-jo and then Shuhei Akasaki, in a goal-laden start to the second half.
Shinzo Koroki then notched what he thought would be the winner, but Goya popped up to cruelly deny the Reds with a dramatic 92nd-minute goal.
It is a result that leaves Reds in seventh, while Gamba sit five points behind in ninth.
