Gamba sign university striker Goya

Ex-Kwansei Gakuin University striker Hiroto Goya revealed he has fulfilled a dream of being able to play for Gamba Osaka, after the Japanese champions completed his signing on Friday.

The 21-year-old forward was a part of Japan’s bronze-winning Universiade 2015 squad, with the club hoping he will be able to play a major role with the first-team in the future.

“I’m incredibly happy to be able to accomplish my dream of becoming a professional player and to be able to start my career at a club as incredible as Gamba Osaka,” Goya said.

“I want to thank everyone who has supported me to this point, but I want to remain humble and work hard in order to contribute to the club.”

Gamba are out to defend their MEIJI YASUDA J1 League title this season and remain fourth overall in the overall standings thanks to Takashi Usami’s league-topping 16 goals.
