Gamba recovery continues against Tokyo

Gamba Osaka continued their streak of positive results as they overcame FC Tokyo 3-0 in their MEIJI YASUDA J1 League encounter on Saturday.

Kenta Hasegawa’s men have responded resoundingly to their 4-1 home loss to Jeju United in the AFC Champions League, extending their run to two wins following that capitulation.

Gamba ended FC Tokyo’s perfect start to the season as Ademilson struck before half-time, before Shu Kurata and an own-goal saw the hosts roar to a much-needed victory.

The 2014 Japanese champions are now second after Vissel Kobe had earlier moved top of the table with a 2-0 win at Vegalta Sendai - their goals coming courtesy of Kotaro Omori and Naoyuki Fujita in the second half.

Shunsuke Nakamura netted his first goal in Jubilo Iwata colours during their 2-1 win at Omiya Ardija, with the veteran opening the scoring with a trademark free-kick in the fifth minute.

Kengo Kawamata then scuffed in the winner after the break as Jubilo’s attack finally clicked, though Shintaro Shimizu’s consolation strike for Omiya made it a nervous end to the match for the visitors.

Sanfrecce Hiroshima’s inconsistent start to the season continued as they were beaten 1-0 at Sagan Tosu following Riki Harakawa’s winner right before half-time.

Consadole Sapporo drew 1-1 against fellow promoted side Cerezo Osaka, while Shimizu S-Pulse picked up consecutive wins with a 2-0 result at Albirex Niigata - Chong Tese and Ko Matsubara wrapping up a late victory with goals in the last 15 minutes.
