Gamba Osaka on Thursday announced the departure of club president Teruhisa Noro after over four years in the role.

Noro oversaw the team’s infamous 2012 relegation as well as their subsequent return to the top flight and 2014 J1 League title.

He was also a key figure in the construction of the team’s new Suita City Football Stadium.

“It was an eventful four years and three months, and I’d like to thank our fans and partners for the support that allowed me to carry out my duties,” said Noro.

The official will be replaced by local businessman Takashi Yamauchi.
