Fukuoka aim to get back on track in Sapporo

Avispa Fukuoka has an impressive six-match unbeaten streak snapped last week, but they are back and ready to start a new one when they play away to Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo on Sunday at 2 pm JST in a match that will be streamed live on the J.League International YouTube channel.

Avi were bested by the magical Ryotaro Ito last week, as the Albirex Niigata scored two goals in stoppage time to complete his hat trick and bring his club back from 2-0 down to beat the men from Fukuoka. It was a spectacular performance and showed what it takes to beat Avi in 2023.

Fukuoka have been excellent thus far, displaying great balance across the team that makes life extremely difficult on opponents. Last week was the first time a team scored multiple goals on them, as their defense leads the way, but they get a complete team performance in the attack to create a constant threat and it’s why they were able to string together a six-match win streak that put them in the upper reaches of the table.

Consa’s defense hasn’t been quite as good, conceding 17 goals already this season, which is more than double what Avi have given up, but their attack has picked up a lot of the slack. Their 14 goals are tied for third-best in the league this season. Takuro Kaneko leads the way with three goals, but the real strength is in their depth as nine different players have scored goals for Consa.

The J.League announced that up to four matches will be streamed live each week for the 2023 season, bringing one of Asia’s top league’s to fans around the world. The streams will be free to view on the J.League International YouTube channel in any country that does not have an existing rights agreement.
