Kawasaki Frontale striker Yu Kobayashi has been named the MEIJI YASUDA J1 League Monthly MVP for July 2016 after an explosive attacking performance for his side.

The Samurai Blue attacker scored six goals and recorded an additional assist in Frontale’s unbeaten month, earning particular praise from the selection committee for his headers and body control in the penalty area.

“I focus on playing in order to score goals and lead my team to victory as a striker,” Kobayashi said. 

“I’m able to score goals because of my team-mates’ assists. I’m grateful to them and I hope I can improve as a player in order to score more goals on my own.”

Kobayashi is the second Frontale player to receive the Monthly MVP award this season following Kengo Nakamura in February-March.
