Frontale notch big win as Antlers stumble in ACL Round of 16

Japanese teams split away results on Tuesday night in the 2017 AFC Champions League Round of 16.

Facing a formidable Muangthong United side at the Thunder Dome, Kawasaki Frontale fell behind shortly before half-time but recovered on goals by captain Kengo Nakamura, Yu Kobayashi and Hiroki Abe to notch a 3-1 win and key away goals ahead of next week’s return leg at Todoroki Stadium.

In China, Kashima Antlers struggled against Guangzhou Evergrande, conceding the lone goal of their 1-0 loss from a free kick in the 75th minute when Paulinho pounced upon a loose ball.

First-leg action continues on Wednesday afternoon when Urawa Reds face South Korea’s Jeju United away.
