Shimizu S-Pulse arrival Makoto Kakuda revealed his belief his new club can secure safety this season, after parent club Kawasaki Frontale loaned him out for the remainder of the campaign.
The former Nagoya Grampus midfielder cut short his stint at Frontale on Saturday despite only joining them in January, and has immediately thrown himself into his new task of keeping S-Pulse afloat.
“I want to give everything I have in order to help S-Pulse rise in the standings,” said Kakuda. “The team is in a difficult situation but I hope we can unite with our supporters to change it.”
The Shizuoka side picked up only their fourth win last Wednesday against Yokohama F.Marinos, a situation that saw manager Katsumi Oenoki resign afterwards to be replaced by Kazuaki Tasaka.
Kakuda, who has made 14 MEIJI YASUDA J1 League appearances so far this season, will now don the No. 45 shirt for the overall 17th-placed club.
