Former Samurai Blue Inoha to leave Jubilo

Jubilo Iwata on Monday announced that defender Masahiko Inoha will be released by the club once his contract comes to an end this year.

The 30-year-old, who spent three seasons with the Yamaha Stadium outfit, had been a part of Japan’s 2014 FIFA World Cup squad.

“I will always treasure having been able to spend time with such terrific coaches, teammates, and supporters,” Inoha said. “I sincerely wish everyone at the club the best.”

The centre-back’s last major contribution was to score the opener in a crucial 2-1 victory at Oita Trinita on the last day of the MEIJI YASUDA J2 League season.

His goal helped secure the three points that allowed the resurgent Japanese giants to finish second in the standings and gain automatic promotion to the top-flight in 2016.
