Former Japan international Matsui joins Yokohama FC

Yokohama FC on Monday announced the signing of midfielder Daisuke Matsui on a full transfer from Poland’s Odra Opole.

The 36-year-old represented Japan at the 2003 FIFA World Cup, 2010 FIFA World Cup and 2011 AFC Asian Cup, with 31 total caps for the Samurai Blue.

In addition to a career in Europe which spanned a decade and included time in France, Russia, and Bulgaria, he has played for Kyoto Sanga and Jubilo Iwata in the J.League’s top two divisions.

He will wear the No. 35 for Yokohama FC, who will open their MEIJI YASUDA J2 League campaign on February 25 against Matsumoto Yamaga.
