Former Avispa defender Mayor takes over at Renofa

Argentine tactician Carlos Alberto Mayor has been appointed as the new manager of MEIJI YASUDA J2 League side Renofa Yamaguchi, the club announced on Monday.

The 51-year-old, who represented Argentina at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, was a part of Avispa Fukuoka’s first-ever J.League squad in 1996.

He has managed a number of local clubs since his retirement as a player, including boyhood club Argentinos Juniors, Atlanta, and San Martin (SJ).

“It’s an honour to have been hired by the club and I’m excited to come to Yamaguchi. I want to focus my efforts on earning victories and hope our fans will continue to support us.”

Renofa are currently last in the 2017 MEIJI YASUDA J2 League with a record of just two wins and 11 losses after 17 rounds.
