UAE’s Al Ahli and China’s Guangzhou Evergrande played to a 0-0 draw in the first leg of the 2015 AFC Champions League final on Saturday.
Former champions Evergrande, who defeated Gamba Osaka in the semi-finals, dominated the match from the outset.
However, Luiz Felipe Scolari’s men were unable to find a game-winner despite Al Ahli finishing the match with 10 men.
While the West Asian side were unable to win at home, they will be happy to depart for China without having conceded an away goal.
The winner of the tournament will join the MEIJI YASUDA J1 League champions, as well as continental title-holders such as Barcelona and River Plate, in the 2015 FIFA Club World Cup in December.
