Everaldo has been awarded KONAMI Goal of the Month for July after his magnificent bicycle kick in Matchweek 20.
Kashima Antlers found themselves trailing Cerezo Osaka, 3-2, in the 89th minute when a long ball was nodded into Everaldo’s path. The Brazilian took a touch to evade a defender, but it took him wide of the goal, with his back to goal and seemingly unable to score. Everaldo had other thoughts, though, hitting an audacious bicycle kick that looped high in the air, over the goalkeeper and off the back post before finding the back of the net.
Not only did Everaldo’s goal amaze, but it also earned Kashima a crucial point. It was a goal for the ages and more than deserving of KONAMI Goal of the Month honors.
In J2, KONAMI Goal of the Month went to Naohiro Sugiyama for his Matchweek 28 tally. The Roasso Kumamoto man played consecutive give-and-gos with teammates before hitting a gorgeous curler from 25 yards that tucked inside the post. It was a team goal run entirely by Sugiyama, who used three touches total to play two passes and the beautiful shot.
