Douglas Vieira wins April Konami Monthly MVP for goal scoring heroics

Douglas Vieira had a fabulous April, establishing himself as the ultimate match-winner for Sanfrecce Hiroshima, and that terrific play has earned him Konami Monthly MVP.

The Brazilian came off the bench in all five of the Viola’s April matches and scored five goals. He didn’t just find the back of the net with regularity - he won matches.

Douglas Vieira’s two goals in 22 minutes were the difference in Sanfrecce’s April 1 win over Kashima Antlers, then he scored the lone goal a week later against Sagan Tosu. He found the back of the net on April 15 then wrapped up the month with the winner three minutes into stoppage time to beat Cerezo Osaka, 1-0.

The points Douglas Vieira won showed up in a big way in the table as well. Sanfrecce began the month ninth in the league, but finished second and are now in the thick of the title race.

J2 Konami Monthly MVP went to Juanma Delgado after he scored five goals for V-Varen Nagasaki in April. His goal scoring won VVN three matches, twice scoring the lone goal in 1-0 wins and scoring two on another occasion as his team won, 4-2.

Konami Monthly MVP in J3 was awarded to Hayato Asakawa, who scored three goals for Nara Club and was a constant threat from the wing as his team moved into the top two of the league in April.
