Dorompa, Sanche, Vegatta amongst top three in Mascot Election

The 10th through fourth place results in the 2016 J.League Mascot election were revealed on Friday, setting the stage for an exciting announcement of the winner at Saturday’s FUJI XEROX SUPER CUP.

The centre position in the annual mascot photo will be occupied by either Sanfrecce Hiroshima’s Sanche, the current champion, FC Tokyo’s Tokyo Dorompa, or Vegalta Sendai’s Vegatta, who won the inaugural election in 2013.

The partial results demonstrated a strong showing for J2 clubs, with V-Varen Nagasaki’s 2014 champion Vivi-kun placing in sixth, Machida Zelvia’s Zelvi in seventh, Montedio Yamagata’s Dio in ninth and Matsumoto Yamaga’s Gans-kun in 10th place.

Newly-revived J.League mascot J.League King made his election debut in 37th place, while Urawa Reds’ Redia came in last at 39th.

The winner of the election will be announced at halftime of the SUPER CUP between Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Gamba Osaka.
