Chanathip leaves Kawasaki Frontale for Thailand return

Chanathip Songkrasin has finalized a transfer that will see him leave Kawasaki Frontale to join Thai club BG Pathum United.

The Thailand international has been a terrific player in the MeijI Yasuda J.League ever since signing with Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo in 2017. By his second season at the club, he was named club Player of the Year and named to the J.League Best XI for the campaign. It was a stupendous season that established himself as an impact player in the league.

Chanathip’s great play earned him a move to Kawasaki Frontale for 2022, where he was joining a team coming off of four league titles in the previous five seasons. It was a major step up for the Thai star and a big spotlight as the league’s preeminent team made him a priority to sign.

Chanathip immediately stepped in as an important player at Frontale, helping them through a long season that saw them take the title race down to the final day of the season.

Now, Chanathip is returning to his home country, where he will play for a club that has finished in the top two of the league each of the last three seasons.

Good luck and thank you, Chanathip!
