Cerezo Osaka midfielder Hotaru Yamaguchi was named the MEIJI YASUDA J2 League Monthly MVP for September after he contributed to three straight wins in his team’s fierce promotion battle.
The Japan international’s form has continuously improved since his return to the J.League in June, and his persistence on both sides of the ball over 90 minutes has become one of Cerezo’s most valuable weapons.
Yamaguchi ranked second in the division in assists (two) and passes (261) as well as fourth in number of interceptions (three).
“I’m glad I could contribute to the team’s victories, and the backing of our supporters has also been a big help,” Yamaguchi said.
“There isn’t much time left in this season but I want to work hard to help us achieve promotion to the J1 League.”
