Cerezo try to keep climbing in visit to high-scoring Sapporo

Cerezo Osaka have been steadily climbing the table and with four wins in their last five matches, they’ve found themselves all the way up to being level on points with fourth place. Now, they try to keep it going against the Meiji Yasuda J1 League’s most explosive team, Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo, on Saturday at 2 pm JST in a match that will be streamed live on the J.League International YouTube channel.

Cerezo sit on 29 points, even with Urawa Reds and Sanfrecce Hiroshima. Their surge has come courtesy of an excellent defense that allowed just one goal total in their last four wins. With the defense kicking on, the Léo Ceará-led attack has been able to pick teams off and rack up victories.

That in-form Sakura defense will be challenged in Sapporo, though. Consa feature the league’s highest scoring attack, with Yuya Asano and Takuro Kaneko each having scored eight goals to pace a team that flies forward with abandon.

Will Consa be able to pick apart Cerezo? Or will the Sakura’s back line hold up to register another win that moves them ever closer to the top of the table?

The J.League announced that up to four matches will be streamed live each week for the 2023 season, bringing one of Asia’s top league’s to fans around the world. The streams will be free to view on the J.League International YouTube channel in any country that does not have an existing rights agreement.
