Cerezo Osaka on Thursday announced the transfer of midfielder Aria Jasuru Hasegawa to Spain’s Real Zaragoza.
The mixed Japanese-Iranian player will team up with former coach Ranko Popovic, under whom he previously played for at Cerezo as well as FC Tokyo.
“To be honest I am disappointed that I wasn’t able to achieve anything in the year and a half I have played for Cerezo,” Hasegawa commented through the club.
“But I am grateful to my coaches, staff, team-mates, fans, supporters, and everyone associated with the club.
“I thought a lot about the timing of this move, but it’s been my dream to play overseas and I’ve decided to challenge myself.”
Hasegawa’s final game for Cerezo took place on Saturday against Oita Trinita on matchday 21 of the MEIJI YASUDA J2 League.
