Cerezo captain Kakitani injured

Cerezo Osaka on Thursday announced that captain Yoichiro Kakitani has suffered a right ankle injury that will see him miss the next four weeks of play.

The injury was suffered in Wednesday’s 2-1 win at V-Varen Nagasaki in the 17th round of the MEIJI YASUDA J2 League.

The former Basel midfielder leads Cerezo’s goalscoring charts with five goals in 17 appearances.

Cerezo sit fifth and only two points behind MEIJI YASUDA J2 League leaders Consadole Sapporo, as they look to return to the MEIJI YASUDA J2 League next season.
