Jubilo Iwata striker Jay Bothroyd became the fifth player in the MEIJI YASUDA J2 League to score a hat-trick this season, when he netted thrice against Kyoto Sanga on Saturday.
The 33-year-old fired in the opener after just two minutes before his double in the second half helped Jubilo secure a 3-3 draw and a valuable point in the battle for promotion.
It was the former Arsenal and Queens Park Rangers player’s first hat-trick in Japan, as well as the first-ever for his side in the J.League’s second division.
Bothroyd impressive scoring prowess has seen him net 14 times in 22 appearances this season for Jubilo, who are in second after playing 28 games.
