Omiya Ardija manager Hiroki Shibuya will continue in his role next season, the club announced on Friday.
The 49-year-old took over in August 2014 when the club was attempting to stave off relegation.
He subsequently led Ardija back to the top flight in one season and has earned the most J1 League points in club history (50) with three matches remaining.
“I’m deeply thankful to Omiya Ardija for asking me to renew my contract before the season has concluded,” Shibuya said.
“We’ve continued to fight for a higher place in the standings and have earned the most points in club history.
“But we can’t rest on our laurels and next season we hope to work harder and aim for even better results.”
