The second match of the MEIJI YASUDA J.League World Challenge 2017 took place on Saturday night, with Kashima Antlers defeating Sevilla 2-0.
The Spanish side took the initiative early on, but were unable to get a shot past Antlers goalkeeper Hitoshi Sogohata as the first half ended 0-0.
While the tempo largely remained unchanged after the interval, it was Antlers who took the lead after 18-year-old Hiroki Abe set up Yuma Suzuki’s opening goal.
Suzuki scored his second of the night off a corner kick in the dying seconds of the match to cap off a memorable evening for the 28,308 fans in attendance.
