Antlers striker Toyokawa joins Belgium’s Eupen

Kashima Antlers on Friday announced the full transfer of Yuta Toyokawa to KAS Eupen in the Belgian First Division A.

Toyokawa, who joined Antlers in 2013, spent last season on loan at MEIJI YASUDA J2 League side Fagiano Okayama and scored eight goals in 35 appearances.

“It’s been a joy to play for Kashima Antlers since 2013 and my time at the club has been incredibly meaningful. I want to thank my team-mates, staff, and the scouts who discovered me,” Toyokawa said.

“I’ll never forget the support of our fans, especially when I made the starting XI on the opening day of the 2014 season.

“I’ve dreamed of playing overseas since I was young, and I’ve always wanted to play football in that challenging environment.

“Having received this chance to play in Belgium I want to play aggressive, proactive attacking football. Even if I struggle I want to keep pushing forward and improve as a player. I hope everyone will continue to support me even as I go overseas.”
