Antlers sign trio ahead of title defense

Avispa Fukuoka forward Takeshi Kanamori has expressed his pride and excitement after signing for Kashima Antlers.

The newly-crowned Japanese champions this week announced the signing of the striker in addition to Shonan Bellmare midfielder Yuto Misao and Vissel Kobe’s Pedro Junior as they prepare to defend their MEIJI YASUDA J1 League title next term.

Kanamori scored four goals for relegated Avispa in the 2016 season, while Pedro Junior netted 11 goals in 29 appearances.

“I feel great about joining such a notable club with so many titles to their name,” Kanamori said.

“I’m even more excited to play for the team after watching their recent performance at the FIFA Club World Cup.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity and want to work hard to add my name to Kashima’s tremendous history.”

“I’m incredibly thankful for the chance to play for a club with such tradition,” Misao echoed his new team-mate’s comments.

“Whether on or off the pitch I want to contribute everything I have to help the team win. I want to work hard and dedicate myself to improving even further.”

“I’m excited to take this new step in my life as a member of this club,” said Pedro.

“Kashima Antlers are very well-known in Brazil and my idol Zico once played here. I look forward to giving my best in order to help this great club remain strong.”
