Kashima Antlers on Saturday announced that midfielder Mu Kanazaki will remain at the club after a full transfer from Portimonense.

The 27-year-old rejoined the Portuguese second-division side following the conclusion of his one-season loan to Antlers last season.

He netted nine times in 27 league appearances and contributed an additional five in the club’s Yamazaki Nabisco Cup-winning campaign.

“I’m absolutely delighted to play for Kashima Antlers again after last year’s fantastic season,” Kanazaki said. 

“I’m grateful to the club for continuing to express interest in me while recognising my desire to play overseas.”

Antlers will begin the 2016 MEIJI YASUDA J1 League on the road at Gamba Osaka on February 28.
