Anma takes over Tokyo after Shinoda steps down

FC Tokyo on Sunday announced the dismissal of manager Yoshiyuki Shinoda for poor results.

The 46-year-old, who took over the capital city side in July 2017, had amassed won just nine out of 25 games in this year’s MEIJI YASUDA J1 League.

“I deeply apologise to our fans, supporters, and everyone involved with the club for failing to meet your expectations,” Shinoda said.

“I hope you will continue to support the players and the club in their further development.”

He will be replaced for the remainder of the season by coach Takayoshi Anma, who previously managed Ventforet Kofu as well as Kataller Toyama.

Former Tokyo midfielder and current scouting department member Masashi Miyazawa has been promoted to the team’s coaching staff.
