Albirex Niigata on Tuesday confirmed that midfielder Leo Silva had received surgery to treat an acute gallbladder inflammation.
The 29-year-old is currently back in Brazil and recovering from having his gallbladder removed via a laparoscopic procedure on 16th May.
While Silva’s prognosis looks positive, he is scheduled to receive a detailed evaluation on 16th June in order to determine his rehabilitation programme upon his return to Japan.
The Sao Luiz native, who joined Albirex from Portuguesa in 2013, has three goals in 10 appearances this season.
