Keio University prospect Go Hayama revealed he “dreamed of” Albirex Niigata after the club announced the tentative signing of the midfielder for the 2016 season on Friday.
The 22-year-old has been registered as a Special Designated Player for the club, enabling Albirex to also call on him for their first-team squad this season.
“I’ve dreamed of this day ever since I kicked a ball for the first time,” Hayama commented. “I’m incredibly pleased to be able to start my career at Albirex Niigata.”
A Tokyo Verdy academy product, he made seven J2 League appearances for his boyhood club in 2013, while he has also represented Japan at Under-17 level.
Hayama’s future side Albirex secured a 1-0 win at Vegalta Sendai in the MEIJI YASUDA J1 League on Saturday.
