MEIJI YASUDA J1 League outfit Albirex Niigata succumbed 3-2 to third-tier Kataller Toyama in a training match last Sunday.
All the goals were scored in the first half, with Kataller netting through Yuki Kitai, Takuya Kokeguchi and Shunsuke Oyama; the last proving decisive.
Ryohei Yamazaki had scored first for Albirex in the eighth minute, while former London 2012 representative Hiroshi Ibusuki strike was not enough to secure a draw.
Last-placed Albirex have chalked up just 11 points this season and will be hoping to end a six-game winless run when they travel to Shonan Bellmare this Saturday.
