FC Tokyo on Monday announced the full signing of striker Takuma Abe from Ventforet Kofu.
The 28-year-old, who began his professional career with Tokyo Verdy in 2010, boasts overseas experience in the form of a one-year stay with 2.Bundesliga side VfR Aalen.
“I want to contribute to a title-winning campaign for FC Tokyo and thank you for your support,” Abe commented.
The forward managed five goals in 30 MEIJI YASUDA J1 League appearances for Ventforet last season as they secured survival.
Abe’s signing is expected to take some of the goalscoring burden off veteran Ryoichi Maeda.
The club struggled in the final third last season following the transfer of talisman Yoshinori Muto to Mainz in the summer.
