J1 League Match Week 15 Recap: FC TOKYO earn huge three points against Yokohama F・M, Kawasaki-F make short work of Niigata

J1 League Match Week 15 Recap: FC TOKYO earn huge three points against Yokohama F・M, Kawasaki-F make short work of Niigata

There were plenty of goals - and two new goal scorers - in the 2025 MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE on Wednesday night, as FC TOKYO claimed a big 3-0 win in their bottom-of-the-table clash against Yokohama F・Marinos and Kawasaki Frontale defeated Albirex Niigata 3-1.

Only six points separated bottom-placed Yokohama F・M and FC TOKYO heading into their clash at Nissan Stadium, and visitors FC TOKYO started very brightly as they looked to extend that gap.

Their first chance came when Motoki Nagakura met Leon Nozawa’s cross from the right in the 10th minute, but his header was dealt with easily enough by Yokohama F・M goalkeeper Hiroki Iikura.

Nagakura drew another save from Iikura four minutes later, making space well on the edge of the area but seeing his well-struck effort palmed away by Yokohama F・M’s veteran shot-stopper.

Yan Matheus had Yokohama F・M’s first real sighter as he curled an effort narrowly over from just outside the area in the 23rd minute, and six minutes later the hosts threatened again, only for Anderson Lopes to see his header tipped over by Taishi Brandon Nozawa.

FC TOKYO’s Takahiro Ko missed a glorious chance with a free header from the edge of the six-yard box in the 36th minute, heading off target after an inch-perfect cross from Nagakura, but the visitors did move ahead six minutes after the restart.

Kein Sato worked the ball into the danger zone, and after Yuto Nagatomo nudged it goalwards Leon Nozawa determinedly forced it over the line to mark his first start in the MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE with his first goal.

FC TOKYO then doubled their lead in the 68th minute as Sei Muroya teed up Sato for a simple finish, and Nagakura wrapped up the win with five minutes to play, skipping into the box after a one-two with Sato before stabbing beyond Iikura with the outside of his right boot.

Meanwhile, Kawasaki-F were set on their way as Yasuto Wakizaka marked his 200th MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE appearance with a gorgeous free kick in the 12th minute at Uvance Todoroki Stadium by Fujitsu.

Niigata almost equalised after half an hour, but after Yuto Horigome bent an inviting ball in behind Yuji Ono’s controlled shot clipped the far post.

Kawasaki-F then doubled their advantage five minutes later, Jesiel heading a free-kick back across goal for Soma Kanda to nod home from close range and claim his first MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE goal on his first start.

Yuto Ozeki added the gloss for Kawasaki-F with a crisp low finish in the first minute of additional time, with Jin Okumura beating the offside trap for Niigata’s consolation four minutes later.
