Can high-powered Sapporo keep their goal scoring party going against Sanga?

Whenever you tune into a Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo match, you know you’re going to get one thing for sure - goals. The team leads the Meiji Yasuda J1 League in goals and Kyoto Sanga will be charged with trying to slow down potential Consa when the two sides meet on Friday Night J.League at 7:30 pm JST in a match that will be streamed live on the J.League International YouTube channel.

Consa are led by the surging Yuya Asano, whose seven goals are not just second-best in the league, but already a career high for a single season. He’s gotten help from Takuro Kaneko, who has five goals of his own and Tsuyoshi Ogashiwa, who has four goals and four assists.

All of Sapporo’s goal scoring has only landed them in eighth place because their defense has not proven to be reliable. They’ve conceded the third-most goals in the league, which gives Sanga a chance to steal points at the Sapporo Dome.

Sanga are in desperate need of a win, having taken just one point from their last five matches, and Consa’s leaky defense could be just what they need to right the ship.

The J.League announced that up to four matches will be streamed live each week for the 2023 season, bringing one of Asia’s top league’s to fans around the world. The streams will be free to view on the J.League International YouTube channel in any country that does not have an existing rights agreement.
